Cape Henlopen School District Launches new mobile app

August 8, 2016

The Cape Henlopen School District is set to launch a brand-new free mobile app allowing parents and students to have instant access to individual school, sports and district-wide information.

The app has calendars, lunch menus, bus schedules, parent/student payment portals, Schoology portals, sports notifications, social media, and more. The app will send parents and students emergency notifications (e.g., school closures) and district news.

The first time the app is opened, it will prompt subscribers to indicate if they would like to receive push notifications. They should select "YES"
to receive emergency closing announcements and other urgent messages without having
to open or check the app. In addition, each individual school and sports team and grade will have its own channel for information that relates to them. Stakeholders can easily subscribe to only the channels that apply to their students.

For the 2016-17 school year, Cape has elected to move many student forms from paper format to online. Each of these forms is easy to fill out online and easily accessible on the mobile app. Also, the forms will be on the Cape Henlopen Schools website.

Parents and students can get the app in both the Apple App store and the Google Play store starting the week of Aug. 22. It's free and is available for download on smartphones by searching with keyword "Cape Henlopen" or "CHSD."

Superintendent Robert Fulton is focused on embracing technology in the Cape Henlopen School District. "We are excited to offer our parents and students the opportunity to stay connected to the district via our new mobile app. From news updates, announcements, a calendar of events, to staff directories, from breakfast and lunch menus to athletic schedules, the app provides essential information at the touch of a button. Many features on the app allow you to subscribe to schools and receive announcements and events right on your device. We are thrilled to be one of the first public schools in Delaware to offer this highly customized, powerful technology."
