Cape High grad's photo featured in calendar

When Grant Czerwinski's friend suggested he submit a photo for an upcoming engineering contest, Czerwinski entered the contest but never thought much more about it.

Now his photo graces the American Society of Civil Engineers 2018 Bridges calendar for the month of June.

“I entered on a whim,” said the 2015 Cape High grad.

Czerwinski, an engineering major at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., said photography is a hobby. He snapped several photos of the Indian River Inlet bridge at sunset that he submitted for the contest. Ironically, his winter photos of the bridge and inlet were chosen for a summer calendar month.

Czerwinski won first place for the high dynamic range category, which judges a photo on light and dark contrasts, he said.

For his first-place award, the college junior said he will get a copy of the 2018 calendar, expected to be released in October.

The Bridges 2018 calendars are $12.95 each or $10 apiece for two. Calendars can be ordered at asce.org/templates/publications-book-detail.aspx?id=25405.
