Cape soccer finishes season with 3-2 win at Dover

October 28, 2016

Cape took a first half 2-1 score into the halftime locker room and added an insurance goal in the second half to defeat the Senators 3-2 at Dover.

Richard Carey scored first at the 32-minute mark off a pass from Aidan Spoor. Five minutes later, junior Uly Slagle tallied the second goal with an assist from Harold Ayala. The second half and deciding goal was scored by Zack Gelof from Slagle at the 61-minute mark.

“We controlled the majority of the game,” said Cape coach Patrick Kilby. “Two defensive breakdowns resulted in Dover's goals, but Zack Gelof came through in a big way to score the game-winner.”

The Vikings took 30 shots on Dover goalkeeper Sean Quirk. He stopped 26 of them. Cape goalie Alan Marin-Quiroz denied Dover seven times.
