May 15, 2017

The Cape Henlopen softball squad celebrated its seniors Friday, May 12, but the game didn’t go their way as Indian River downed the Lady Vikings 18-4.

The Vikings offense was led by Sara Lallier’s double and single, while Hannah Jones added two singles. Ryleigh Elliott added one hit. Cape had a total of five hits in the contest.

Indian River’s Samantha Mayfield hit a three-run homer for the Indians.

Vikings Class of 2017 members Kristine Davis, Hannah Jones, Sara Lallier and Jordyn Virden may have played the last home game of their high school careers, but the future looks bright for these young ladies.

Hannah Jones will attend Campbell University, Jordyn Virden will attend Wilmington University, Sara Lallier will attend Brevard College, and Kristine Davis will attend Delaware Tech.

The 8-9 Vikings will close out their regular season play at Lake Forest Tuesday, May 16, where they will take on the 13-2 Spartans. Game time is 4:15 p.m.
