Cape superintendent offers lame excuse

March 14, 2018

In response to the Cape Gazette editorial, "What good is free speech if no one can hear it?" I fully support the editorial. Did not the enlightened leadership of the Cape High School administration realize the glaring contradiction of their action in barring the media from covering Wednesday's student walkout event?

The superintendent approved the students’ request for their voices to be heard in support of the Parkland high school shooting victims.

And then, in denying them access to the media, the superintendent denied the Cape students the opportunity for their voices to be heard. It causes one to question the judgement and intelligence of the superintendent.

The lame excuse for barring the media, out of concern for safety, was just that - lame. When was the last time a member of the media attacked or shot a student?
