Cape volleyball spikes Dover with balanced attack

Vikings wait for playoffs with 12-3 record on the season
October 27, 2016

The Cape volleyball team traveled to Dover Oct. 25 and played a spirited Senior Night Senators squad to a 3-0 victory with a balanced attack.

Maddy Holt, Sophia Spinelli, Taylor Collier and Abby E’Nama teamed for 18 kills on the night. Logan Shuttleworth and Collier had 12 and 11 digs, respectively. Shuttleworth assisted on 21 plays, while Spinelli served up six aces.

“I'm very happy with our team’s performance tonight,” said Cape coach Tyler Coupe. “I thought from the start we played a clean and effective game. As the season’s been going on, we've been trying to simplify our approach, mainly just keeping consistent pressure on our opponents. I think we did a great job of that behind the service line and at the net.”

Coupe was quick to praise the whole squad on their performance.

“We were able to get everyone in this match and everyone made a contribution, and I was really happy to see that,” he said.

The DIAA State Volleyball Tournament begins Thursday, Nov. 3.
