Carlton G. James Sr., truck driver

Carlton G. James Sr., of Georgetown passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. James was born in Concord, son of the late Granville and Ruth Ann (Stubbs) James and worked as a truck driver most of his life.

In addition to his parents, Carlton is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia A. James; a son, Carlton James Jr., a daughter, Karolyn James; a grandson, Joshua Leon Brantley; two brothers, Paul Oliver James and Kenneth Eugene James; and a brother-in-law, Jack Sullivan.

He is survived by five children, Everett Wooters, Dwight Brantley, Beverly Brantley, Sandra Rust and Michael James; eight grandchildren, Matthew Lavonne Brantley, William Cody Rust, Deric Rust, Kurstin Rust, Nichole Hunter James, Cameron Michael James, Carlie James Petrovics, and Kelly James; one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Brantley; six siblings, Charlotte Sullivan, Betty Ann Edgar (Frank), Richard Hamilton James, David Everett James, Barbara J. Cannon (Tom) and Shirley Baugher (Greg); and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, with visitation after noon. Burial will immediately follow in Asbury Cemetery.
