Catherine E. "Pippy" Delario, Sussex homemaker

October 21, 2016

Catherine E. "Pippy" Delario, 91, of Millsboro, formerly of Seaford, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016.

Catherine was the proud homemaker and matriarch of the Delario family for more than 30 years. Her family will remember her goofy laughter that spread warmth to all who heard it, and her failure to be mean to anyone except for the New England Patriots. On her watch, holiday meals consisted of spaghetti and meatballs, but really everyone knew it was all about the ice cream for dessert afterwards.

One of her favorite hobbies was beating her grandchildren at Scrabble and cards. She also enjoyed her many day trips with her dear friend Lucille Vitulli. For almost 70 years, Pippy cared about her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren more than she ever cared about herself, a lesson that her family will take from her passing and spread lovingly to the rest of the world.

Her husband Raymond Delario died in 1983. She is survived by a son, Raymond Delario Jr. (Aileen); two daughters, Nancy Price (Jim) and Rosemary Castiglioni (John); five grandchildren, Kathryn van Amerongen, Michele Heath, Angela Friel, Lauren Price and Isabella Delario; and six great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m., at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes. Friends may call at the church Saturday, from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Seaford.
Arrangements by the Cranston Funeral Home, Seaford.
