Celebration held for Rehoboth Walk to End Alzheimer’s

There was a lot to celebrate in Rehoboth Feb. 11, as Dos Locos hosted and donated the award luncheon honoring participants of the Rehoboth Walk to End Alzheimer's held Sept. 30 at  Grove Park. In previous years, the number of participants in the walk grew slowly, but had never topped 500.

This walk holds the new record at 722 registered walkers. Before the 2017 walk, Rehoboth had not met its fundraising goal, but the recent race raised $153,912 to shatter the goal of $153,000.

Recognized for their efforts in fundraising were the following top walkers: Michael Reilly, $5,400; Nancy Kemble, $4,525; and Carey Fagan, $4,175.

Top teams were Genesis HealthCare at Lofland Park Center, $14,118; Dewey Beer Company, $12,790; and Delaware Seashore Parrot Head Club, $10,500.

Genesis HealthCare at Lofland Park was also recognized as Top Senior Care Team, and won the National Team Challenge. They are the No. 1 Genesis Team in the nation!

Dewey Beer Company was named Company for the Cause 2017. 

The Delaware Seashore Parrot Head Club was named Rookie of the Year Team.

The Hornets for a Cure Team from Delaware State University was named School Pride Team, raising $587.84.

Wendy's Warriors team from Independence 55+ Community was named Top Family & Friends Team, raising $7,417.

All funds raised through Walk to End Alzheimer's further the care, support and research efforts of the nonprofit Alzheimer's Association.
