Chamber supports Contractors for a Cause

June 24, 2018

The Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce presented Contractors for a Cause with a check for $9,969 at a Business After Hours hosted by The Freeman Stage May 23.

The amount donated was 10 percent of the net proceeds from the 29th Annual Ocean to Bay Bike Tour. The annual April ride brings over 2,500 cyclists to the Quiet Resorts each year and is just one of the many events CFAC partners with in the community.

Contractors for a Cause is a nonprofit organization of local contractors who have joined together to give back to the community. The CFAC Delaware Chapter is based in Sussex County’s Bethany Beach and Ocean View areas, and serves the entire Quiet Resorts region. The organization offers disadvantaged community members free construction and maintenance services, provides high school scholarships, and supports many notable local causes, such as the Helping Hands Project, Legacy Scholarship Program and Good Neighbor Program. Contractors for a Cause is always looking for new projects and volunteers.

Contractors for a Cause Vice President Brian Hinds said, “We are sincerely grateful for [the chamber’s] most generous contribution.” He said the funds will be used to assist with construction repairs and essential renovations for local residents in need. “We regularly find people who need handicapped ramps and home repairs that they could not otherwise afford without our assistance. Thanks to the generosity of the [Bethany-Fenwick Area] Chamber of Commerce, our group of local contractors can help many who find themselves in a difficult situation.”

In addition to the donation to CFAC, the chamber distributed $4,077 to the businesses and $1,700 to community members who supported the ride, including local first responders. More than $23,000 of the total event expenses went directly to local member businesses and resources.
