Charles Frank Jefferson, enjoyed woodworking

September 26, 2016

Charles Frank Jefferson, 76, of Milford, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital where he was surrounded by loving family.

Frank was born April 14, 1940, in Milton to the late Harry R. and Mildred (Spicer) Jefferson. He was educated in the Milton School District and, following graduation, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served with distinction for four years and achieved the rank of SP4. He was honorably discharged in 1969. While he was in the military, he met the love of his life, Marilyn Theresa Wedding. They were married Feb. 3, 1968, at the Welcome Baptist Mission Church in Hyattsville, Md., and had just celebrated their 41st anniversary one month prior to Marilyn's death in 2009.
Frank worked for the state of Delaware Mosquito Control Division where he retired after 35 years. He also helped Marilyn with her home daycare for 37 years. He was a charter member of the Independent Bible Fellowship Church in Harrington and the Faith Independent Church in Milford. He had been an active member of the First Baptist Church in Milford for many years.
Frank loved the Lord and enjoyed doing His work. He also cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and church family. He was a hard worker and woodworking was his passion. In his later years, he spent endless hours doing carpentry and maintenance projects at his church. He was loving, kind, and always willing to help others and his dedication and faithfulness to his church was never ending. He led quietly, by example, often shunning the spotlight for recognitions well-deserved.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Warrington; brother Kenneth "Skin" Jefferson; and nephew Duane Jefferson.
Survivors to cherish his precious memories are sister Phyllis A. Gilroy of Nanjemoy, Md.; sister-in-law Lillian Clark Smith of Mountain Lake, Va.; brother-in-law Kossie C. Wedding and his wife Helen of Wilmington, N.C.; nephews, nieces and their spouses, Franklin and Ethel Warrington of Clayton, Michael and Sue Warrington of Milton, David and Gerri Warrington of Lincoln, Dale and Debbie Smith of New Hampshire, Jason and Lisa Wedding of Denton, Md., Yvonne and Richard White of Milford, Joshua Jefferson of Dover and mother Susan Speicher, Peggy Day, Donna Gilberts, Debbie Gilroy, Steve Gilroy and Rex Gilroy; extended special family members, Keith and Terri Hudson and their children, spouses and grandchildren, Megan, Eli and Sadie Howard and Sean, Sara and Parker Hudson all of Milford, Lisa and Joe Dent and children, Jacoby and Journey of Georgia and Spencer Johnson of Milford; as well as many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, at 1 p.m., in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Milford, 6062 Old Shawnee Road, Milford, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will be held in Henlopen Memorial Park in Milton.
