Charles J. McCabe, avid sports fan

Charles J. McCabe, 81, of Seaford, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was the son of the late Russell and Agnes McCabe and brother to the late Mildred Pusey.

Charles graduated from Georgetown High School in 1954. He served in the Army National Guard, was a previous member of the Seaford Lions Club and Automobile Dealers of Delaware. He also owned Cannon Motors in Blades, and later retired from DuPont.

Charles was an avid sports fan, and big supporter of his grandchildren's athletic teams at Cape Henlopen High School, Sussex Technical High School, University of Delaware and Winthrop University.

Charles is survived by daughters, Jennie McCabe-Severs and husband Don, and Tracey McCabe Yeager and husband Steve; grandson, Hunter Severs; granddaughters, Katie and Allie Yeager; brothers, Harold McCabe and wife Louise, and T.J. McCabe; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Molly, who brought him so much unconditional love and joy.

Memorial services will be held at St. George's Episcopal Chapel, 20274 Beaver Dam Road, Harbeson, Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at 11 a.m., where friends may call for a time of visitation at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements in the care of Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
