CHEER Center hosts car show

CHEER Inc. hosted its 7th Annual Car, Truck and Bike Show Aug. 5 in Georgetown. Motor vehicle enthusiasts enjoyed the 75 vehicles on display as well as a champagne brunch and auction. This year highlighted “The History of the Ford, From Yesterday to Today.” The event is held to support CHEER’s Meals on Wheels and Adult Day Care programs. Trophies and plaques were awarded in various categories. 

Winner of an electric replica of a 1967 Shelby 6T500 Mustang was won by Josephine Waldecker of Georgetown.

Trophy recipients were: Furthest Traveled (sponsored by France Club-d’Jet USA) - James Harris of Gaithersburg, Md., 1987 Rolls Royce; Oldest Vehicle - Harold Johnson, Harbeson, 1929 Ford Coupe; Best in County (sponsored by Sussex County Council) - Fred Wimbrow, Seaford, 1966 Mustang Fastback; Best Bike (sponsored by Frank Manning)  - Chuck Stransky, Georgetown, 1949 “Panhead” Harley-Davidson; Best Truck (sponsored by co-chairman Walt Koopman and Florence Mason) - Phil Shedaker, Laurel, 1950 GMC 150 Pickup; Best Car - Steve Brasure, Laurel, 1934 Ford; Best in Show (sponsored by Davis, Bowen & Friedel) - Joan and John Fultz, Harbeson, 1931 Ford Roadster; and Fred Wittmer Memorial Award (sponsored by Delmar Crown Trophy) - Arlene Littleton was recognized for her dedication and support as a founding member of the CHEER car show. Other show sponsors were Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and Restaurant, CA Golf Cars, O’Neal’s Auction, Korean War Veterans Chap. 1, and Kenneth S. Bock.
