CHEER sets Sixth Annual Car Show Aug. 6

CHEER's Sixth Annual Classic Car, Truck and Bike Show is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 6 at the CHEER Community Center on Sand Hill Road east of Georgetown. The event will feature over 80 cars including Mustangs, Jaguars, Corvettes, Ferraris, Thunderbirds, Porsches and many others. There will also be business displays, a silent auction, a live auction, hobby and craft vendors and a remote-control model aircraft demonstration.

A special attraction at the show will be the Mario Andretti Indy Race Car that will be displayed in front of the CHEER Community Center. Trophies will be awarded in several categories. The public is invited to enjoy this free, daylong event brought in part by Yellow Flag sponsor Meineke Car Care Center in Lewes. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

A Gourmet Champagne Bunch will be offered with tickets costing $25 and available at the door. The buffet will feature over 64 feet of food including prime rib, crab dip, carved ham, steamed shrimp, breakfast items and more. Gourmet desserts will also be included.

Raffle tickets will also be for sale to take home a miniature electric 1963 Corvette. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. The prize will be given away at the end of the day, and the winner does not have to be present. All proceeds will support the CHEER Nutrition Program and Meals on Wheels and the Sand Hill Adult Day Program. CHEER is a nonprofit agency that supplies services to senior citizens in Sussex County.
