Chesapeake Utilities Corporation named top workplace for sixth year

October 20, 2017

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation has announced that the company has been recognized as a Top Workplace for the sixth consecutive year in 2017. This honor is based entirely on feedback from Chesapeake Utilities' employees, who were surveyed by Energage, a research firm that specializes in organizational health and workplace engagement, formerly known as Workplace Dynamics. In Delaware, Energage partners with The News Journal to publish the survey results.

To measure organizational health and workplace engagement, Energage administers anonymous employee surveys to identify top-ranking organizations. The survey measures how well companies set a clear direction for the future, create a culture of high performance and foster strong connections with and among their employees.

According to the survey results, nine out of 10 Chesapeake employees surveyed said they would highly recommend working for the company. They highlighted the company's strong values and ethics, confidence in the direction of the company, feeling a part of something meaningful, and genuine appreciation of employee efforts. Survey responses included comments about the positive work environment, the family-like atmosphere, and the opportunity to volunteer for community organizations during work hours.

"Our employees' shared values drive our strategy, and their commitment is key to our success," said Michael P. McMasters, president and CEO of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation. "We are fortunate to have a team that strives to reach new heights and cares about one another, our customers and the communities we serve. We continue to invest in our people through training and programs that reinforce our shared values."

"Our employees feel empowered to make a difference," said Elaine B. Bittner, senior vice president of strategic development. "This is what drives us to find creative solutions to meet the needs of our customers and communities, and allows us to achieve powerful strategic growth."
