Children's program offered at Lewes Historical Society April 14

March 26, 2017

The Lewes Historical Society is offering programs geared for students in kindergarten through second grade while school is out Friday, April 14.

There will be two sessions of children's story time, engaging learning opportunities and history-themed crafts from 10 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. at the Cannonball House Maritime Museum. These programs are free for children only, with a suggested donation of $5 per adult.

The program for Friday, April 14 is titled Building Our Community, featuring the book "The Three Little Pigs, an Architectural Tale," by Steven Guarnaccia. In the story, not all of the houses are going to protect the pigs from the wolf's huffing and puffing. Which one will? After the story, children will have the chance to build their own miniature models made of edible materials.

Celebrating National Landscape Architecture Month, participants are invited to enjoy the park-like setting at the society campus. Midway School #178 (circa 1898) is one of only a handful of one-room schools left in Delaware. The society's educational programming continues the spirit of learning.
