Chris M. Cobb, 88, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018. She was the daughter of the late George and Olive Maltby of Corning, N.Y., and spent her formative years in Corning.

Chris lived many years in Upstate New York working and enjoying the outdoors in the Finger Lakes area. Her professional life was spent working as a school psychologist helping to create parameters for educating special needs children by establishing state and federal guidelines for educational institutions.

She was a fiercely independent person in both thoughts and actions. Traveling was an important aspect of her life after retirement. She enjoyed meeting other people and experiencing other cultures. Her most memorable trip was to South Africa and the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the end of apartheid. Her trip led her to a philanthropic effort to support the education of the children facing a new world. Chris also enjoyed as much time as possible at her home on the Delaware shore with her loving wife, Janet, who survives her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Collington Foundation Education Fund, 10450 Lottsford Road, Mitchellville, MD 20721.

A memorial service to celebrate Chris's life will be held at Collington on Saturday, March 31 at 2 pm in the Chapel. A reception will follow in the Auditorium.
