Cinema Art Theater to present ‘Polina’ starting Oct. 13

October 12, 2017

Starting Friday, Oct. 13, The Rehoboth Beach Film Society Cinema Art Theater will present “Polina,” a drama about a young woman's search for meaning through her art.

Rigorously trained from an early age by a perfectionist instructor, Polina is a promising classical ballet dancer. She is just about to join the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet when she discovers contemporary dance, a revelation that throws everything into question on a profound level. Diverting from her plan, she leaves all her exacting preparation behind and moves to France to work with famous choreographer Liria Elsaj (played by Academy Award winner Juliette Binoche). But once there, she is quickly forced to grapple with the realization that determination and hard work don't always lead to success.

Screening times are 4 and 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13; 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14; 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 15; 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 16; 4 and 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18; and 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 19. Tickets can be purchased at the Cinema Art Theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening. Admission for a screening is $8 for RBFS members and $10 for nonmembers. All screenings are held at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza behind the Lewes Wawa.

The mission of the RBFS is promoting cinematic arts, and providing education and cultural enrichment for the community. The society sponsors ongoing screenings, special events, and the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival (Nov. 2-12). The society is funded, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The division promotes Delaware arts events on www.DelawareScene.com. For more information on this series, other events, or to become a member, go to www.rehobothfilm.com or call 302-645-9095.
