Clear Space Theatre to present Bow Tie & Barefoot gala Sept. 16
Looking for an event where one can accessorize a bikini with Marlene Dietrich's and Gore Vidal's (and, OK, The Cat in the Hat's and Krusty the Klown's) favorite neckwear? Where beach meets street in a creative, casual, formal, whatever is found festive fashion mash-up? Clear Space presents its annual gala, Bow Tie & Barefoot, starting with a reception at 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, at Ivy in Dewey Beach.
This year's event celebrates both a fabulous summer season and Clear Space's 13th anniversary. Festivities will feature an open bar, buffet dinner and dancing to the music of the Over Time Band. At 6:30, cast members from Clear Space's company of actors will present previews of the 2018 theatre season. The evening continues at 7 p.m. with a buffet dinner followed by dancing.
The event also will include a tribute to this year's winners of the company's annual Spotlight Awards. The Spotlight on Advocacy awardees are Speaker of the House Rep. Peter C. Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach, and Sen. Ernesto B. Lopez, R-Lewes. The Spotlight on Volunteer Service awardee is Joan E. Thomas. The Spotlight on the Artistic Company awardee is Elaine Faye.
