Clubhouse at Baywood event pros attend The Knot NYC Workshop

September 28, 2017

Sarah Dickinson, director of events at The Clubhouse at Baywood in Long Neck, and Jaclyn Ott, who handles marketing for the restaurant and banquet venue, attended a workshop in New York sponsored by The Knot, a media company focused on wedding planning.

The Aug. 22 workshop covered such topics as marketing to millennials, discussions with real couples in the midst of the planning process, social media, and weddings for the LGBT community. "Talking to other industry professionals always helps spark new ideas," Dickinson said. "The seminars were full of solid tips that we're excited to implement at The Clubhouse."

Ott was most impressed with the social media session. "Pinterest and Instagram are so important in the wedding world. It's vital that we make our posts as interactive and personal as we can and engage our audiences," said Ott.

Dickinson's favorite session featured Marcy Blum, a well-known event planner who works with high-end clients. "She is amazing," Dickinson said. "Our goal is to make every couple who walks through our doors feel confident that we are doing everything we can to make their day unique, memorable and stress-free. The Knot workshop gave us even more tools to reach and surpass those goals."
