Cordrey Farms/East Coast Gardens has plans for expansion

June 11, 2018

At its May 22 meeting, Sussex County Council unanimously approved an extension of an existing conditional-use application filed by RS Cordrey Farms LLC/East Coast Garden Center to expand its landscaping and nursery business near Long Neck. The company has plans to build on a 10-acre parcel across Cordrey Road from its existing business.

No conditions were placed on the application because none were placed on the original application in 1998. However, a final site plan must be submitted to the planning and zoning commission for review and approval.

Speaking at the May 22 public hearing, Jim Fuqua, the company's attorney, said the original 16-acre site has been fully utilized and the business now employs more than 100 people. In addition, he said, the 10-acre site will be on farms owned by members of the Cordrey family.
