Council tables Arbor-Lyn development

Warrington Road project calls for 202 units
November 29, 2016

Voting 4-0, Sussex County Council has tabled a decision on Arbor-Lyn, a proposed 202-unit development off Warrington Road north between Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. Councilwoman Joan Deaver did not attend the meeting due to illness.

Councilman George Cole sought to limit density on the tract to four units per acre, but that motion failed on a tied vote, 2-2.

Developer Lockwood Design and Construction Inc. filed an application to rezone a 35-acre parcel from agricultural-residential, AR-1, to medium-density residential, MR, and a conditional use to allow 202 units of multifamily housing, for a density of 5.7 units per acre with 22 acres of open space.

The site plan included 60 single-family lots. In addition, the plan called for 60 apartment-style condominiums and 82 townhouses, a total of 142 multifamily units, on forested land between Route 24 and Old Landing Road.
