County Bank donates $1,000 to Possum Point Players

April 30, 2017

Todd Wilson, County Bank Georgetown branch manager, presented a check for $1,000 to Jonathan Sharp, president of Possum Point Players, a volunteer community theater organization. Their 184-seat theater named Possum Hall is at 441 Old Laurel Road in Georgetown.

The organization was formed in 1973 to contribute to the cultural diversity and vitality of Sussex County by bringing the experience of live theater for the education and enjoyment of residents and visitors alike. As a true community theater group, Possum Point Players productions are staged by unpaid amateurs. The actors and directors, costumers and stage crew, ushers, lighting designers and technicians, musicians, and other volunteers could be family, co-workers and neighbors of audience members.

Outreach programs include the Possum Juniors. This youth group has its own set of by-laws, conducts its own meetings and workshops, and ultimately produces its own shows, taking responsibility for all phases of production. PPP also offers a Summer Theater Academy designed to introduce local children to the theater arts.
