Cultured Pearl diners to benefit Buddy Walk Sept. 27

September 27, 2016

Dinner out at the Cultured Pearl is always special. On Tuesday, Sept. 27, the restaurant will donate 15 percent of its proceeds to support the 2016 Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk Buddy Walk and Buddy Fest.

The restaurant will be decorated in blue and gold Buddy Walk colors and diners will receive party favors and prizes. Buddy Walk organizers are encouraging everyone to treat themselves to the Cultured Pearl on Tuesday evening. The funds generated by the Buddy Walk and Dining for Down Syndrome events support local organizations that provide educational, occupational, and social opportunities to people with cognitive disorders in Sussex County.

The Buddy Fest is a weekend celebration of the accomplishments of people with Down syndrome and other cognitive disorders. Events are scheduled Friday, Oct.7 and Saturday, Oct. 8. The goal is to promote acceptance and inclusion within the community.

The Boardwalk Buddy Walk, which is the signature event of the Buddy Fest weekend, will take place at the bandstand at 9 a.m., Oct. 8. Registration is free and all pre-registered walkers are guaranteed a free 2016 event T-shirt. Organizers are calling for thousands to participate in this year's events.
