Cynthia (Mascetta) King, lived for her family

Cynthia (Mascetta) King, 63, of Lewes, formerly of Cornwall and Yonkers, N.Y., passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family Thursday, March 22, 2018. She was born April 29, 1954, in Yonkers, N.Y., daughter of the late Anthony (Bill) and Nancy (Bonacci) Mascetta.

Cindy was a foreign language teacher for 28 years, first in the Pocantico Hills Central School District and then the Highland Falls Fort Montgomery Central School District in New York. She was a dedicated educator who cared deeply about her students, their education and the colleagues with whom she worked.

Cindy lived for her family. On Oct. 10, 1976, she married Roger King, also from Yonkers. Together they had two children, Elizabeth and Stephen. Cindy was the consummate homemaker, where she enjoyed cooking and sharing meals around the dinner table. She loved to tell stories about her family, past and present, helping to bridge the generations. She was very proud of her Italian heritage. An avid traveler, she enjoyed camping, cross-country trips and spending summers in Montauk, N.Y.

Upon retiring to Delaware, Cindy made her home a place where everyone could come and enjoy themselves. She filled her days with beach visits, thrifting, and exploring restaurants in town. She always enjoyed a beautiful Delaware sunset. In her short retirement, she became an active member of the board of the Friends of Lewes Public Library, and also took up yoga. She loved to go shopping with friends and finding some quiet time to read.

In addition to her husband and children, Cindy is survived by her daughter-in-law, Rachel; brother, William (Albina) Mascetta; niece, nephews, cousins and treasured friends.

She is forever grateful to her team of angels at Tunnell Cancer Center for their steadfast support.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 26, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. An additional viewing will be held the night prior, Sunday, March 25, from 7 to 9 p.m., also at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel. Interment will follow the funeral service at Conley's Chapel Cemetery, 22150 Robinsonville Road; Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Cindy's memory to the Tunnell Cancer Center, Special Needs Fund, c/o Beebe Medical Foundation, 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
