Cyrus R. ‘Skip’ Fox Jr., avid outdoorsman

Cyrus R. "Skip" Fox Jr., 78, of Millsboro, formerly of Clinton, N.J., passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Cy was born in Trenton, N.J., Dec. 16, 1938, son of the late Cyrus R. Fox Sr. and the late Verna Nellie (Apgar) Fox. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was the owner and operator of Cyrus R. Fox Lumber Inc. in Clinton, N.J., before retiring in 1996. Cyrus was a founding and honorary member of the Mahogany Ridge Sportsman Association Clinton and Costello, Pa. He was a third generation Master Mason with Host Lodge 6 in High Bridge, N.J., a past Grand Tall Cedar of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Hunterdon County Forest 13 in High Bridge, N.J., a past director of the Royal Order of the Jesters Crescent Court 64 Trenton, N.J., and a current member of the Royal Order of the Jesters Delaware Court 164, a member of the Crescent Shrine 64 in Trenton, N.J., Elks Lodge 2434 in Clinton, Mason Dixon VFW Post 7234 in Ocean View, American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro and the Indian River Yacht Club in Millsboro.
Cy was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending his time in the great outdoors where he could be found hunting or spending countless hours on the "Quahog" in the Barnegat Bay clamming and fishing. He enjoyed volunteering his time as a driver at the American Legion Post 28 taking veterans to their doctor's appointments at the Veterans Hospital in Elsmere. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Apgar. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sally A. (Bittenbender) Fox; five children, Jack Fox of Belmar, N.J., Steve Fox of Millsboro, Scott (Karen) Fox of Lewes,  Susan (Shaun) Moran of Neptune, N.J., and Julee Fox of Millsboro. Cy is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Terence Fox, Erin Fox, Timothy Fox, Tucker Fox, Samuel Fox, Kayci Fox, Jonathan Fox, Sadie Moran, Daniel Moran and Cyrus Fox and a great-granddaughter, Addy Fox.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 17, at the funeral home, where a visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Cy's name to the American Legion Post 28, 31768 Legion Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
