David William Brown, former ferry shuttle driver

February 21, 2017

David William Brown, 81, of Lewes, passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at home with his wife and son close to him in Lewes. He was born Saturday, Feb. 8, 1936, in Germantown, Pa., son of the late David and Edith Brown.

Mr. Brown proudly served in the National Guard. He worked as a truck driver for most of his life. He was employed with Matlack, driving an 18 wheel-tanker for 35 years; he drove the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Shuttle for 15 years, and he was a school bus driver for three years.

Mr. Brown is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia Ann Brown (nee Bryan); and his sons, David, Stephen, Richard and Ronald Brown.

Dave loved driving; he was superman with an 18-wheeled steel tanker, adored by the children like a father as a school bus driver, and his favorite was driving the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Shuttle. Dave loved playing cards, loved his John Wayne westerns and old classics, football and the Dallas Cowboys, teaching the grandkids his Duncan Yo-Yo champ-level skills, and his ultimate passion and reason for living was to teach and provide for his family, and honor, love and cherish his adored wife Patricia Ann.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, at 3 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 2 p.m.
