The Delaware Adolescent Program Inc., an alternative education program for pregnant and parenting teens, has named Doris Griffin, EdD, as its interim executive director. She succeeds former Executive Director Lucy O'Donnell, who left DAPI in June.

Griffin has worked with the organization in several capacities for the past 15 years, most recently as director of education. An adjunct program coordinator with the Administration of Human Services Graduate Program at Wilmington University, Griffin served as executive director of both Expanded Branches Community Development Corporation and Delaware Futures. Also, she worked as an educational consultant with the Learning Link of Delaware and Christina School District.

"An experienced and devoted member of the DAPI family, we're pleased to hand over the reins to Dr. Griffin," said DAPI Board Chair Stacey Haddock Schiller. "She is a skilled educator with the leadership and vision needed to guide the organization through a critical period."

"Our young people need sustainable quality services from quality people who are willing to offer quality time to ensure they have a quality future," said Griffin. She said it is an honor to lead the organization and create new service delivery options to meet the needs of families touched by DAPI.

DAPI is the only statewide, comprehensive school-based program serving pregnant and parenting teens and their families. DAPI provides students with academic instruction, social services, health services and childcare. During the 2015-16 school year, 100 percent of eligible seniors graduated, more than 75 percent of DAPI graduates were accepted into college and 85 percent had healthy births.
