Delaware chefs to participate in Meals on Wheels brunch April 30

Meals on Wheels Delaware will hold its 20th Celebrity Chefs' Brunch at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, April 30, at DuPont Country Club. Each year, the event features more than 25 recognized chefs from across the United States who come together to share their talents to support Meals on Wheels Delaware. This year, the brunch will include culinary dishes from a few chefs guests might recognize from different restaurants throughout the state.

Dave Banks is corporate executive chef of Harry’s Hospitality Group and co-owner of Harry's Seafood Grill, Harry's Fish Market + Grill, and Kid Shelleen’s Charcoal House & Saloon. Banks participated in the inaugural Celebrity Chefs Brunch in 1997.

Hari Cameron is owner of a(MUSE.) and Grandpa (MAC), both restaurants located in Rehoboth Beach. Cameron is a three-time James Beard Award semifinalist and has won awards for excellence in cuisine, culinary writing and culinary education including Rising Star Chef and Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic. He was featured as a semifinalist on Best Chefs in America 2015 and 2016.

Tom Hannum is chef/owner of Buckley's Tavern in the heart of historic Centreville. Hannum is a board member for Meals on Wheels Delaware and has served on the Celebrity Chefs Brunch planning committee since the inaugural event.

Eric Huntley is chef for RedFire Grill & Steakhouse, part of Platinum Dining Group, Wilmington.

Dwain Kalup is the head chef for Domaine Hudson in Wilmington. Before joining Domaine Hudson, Kalup worked at Blackbird Restaurant in Chicago, a Michelin Star restaurant. Kalup is a current James Beard Award semifinalist.

Jeff Matyger is chef of Capers & Lemons, part of Platinum Dining Group in Wilmington.

Pete McMahon is executive chef of Highway One Group. He will represent Rusty Rudder, Dewey Beach. McMahon participated in the inaugural Celebrity Chefs’ Brunch in 1997.

"Delaware is lucky to have so many talented and adventurous chefs, and Meals on Wheels is grateful for their support of our mission," said Regina Dodds, director of events. "We are thrilled to welcome back chefs that were present at our inaugural event, and now, 20 years later, are willing to donate their time and talent to such a worthy cause."

Hosting this year's brunch is Anne Burrell, critically acclaimed chef and Food Network personality. After studying culinary arts in both the United States and Italy, Burrell went on to work at some of the top restaurants in New York. She currently hosts Food Network's “Worst Cooks in America” and “Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition,” where she mentors a team of celebrities who are in need of cooking tips.

Burrell and the Delaware chefs will be joined by nationally recognized chefs including: Paul Bachand, Recipe; Silvia Barban, Aita Restaurant and LaRina Pastificio e Vino; Michael Blackie, NeXt; Donald Drake, Magnolia’s; Brandon Foster, Project Angel Heart; Timothy Groody, Fork; Domaine Hudson; Mark Levy, Magdelena at The Ivy Hotel; Anthony Marini, Rarest; Matt McCallister, FT33; Bruce Moffett III, Barrington's Restaurant; Lamar Moore; Jeffrey Osaka, 12@Madison; Deb Paquette, ETCH; Paul C. Reilly, beast + bottle and Coperta; Larry Schreiber, Good Food on Montford; Alexander Seidel, Fruition; Jim Smith, executive chef of the State of Alabama; Katsuji Tanabe; Mexikosher Restaurant; John Tesar, Knife; and Cassandra Diane Vires-Renbarger, Companion. Beverage providers for the event include: Linda Collier, Colliers; Jim Dawson, Bill Galbraith, The Wine & Spirit Co. of Greenville; Standard; Liz Lutz, BreakThru Beverage; and Alli Meyer, Winebow.

"We have a lot of terrific talent coming together this year to recognize the importance of caring for our senior neighbors," said Anne Love, executive director. "It is this type of community support that enables Meals on Wheels Delaware to have the resources to support the different Meals on Wheels programs throughout the state.
