May 10, 2017

Delaware Hospice honored its volunteers at a recognition dinner held April 27 at Dover Downs in Dover. From the early days of its founding, Delaware Hospice has been empowered by the passion and dedication of its volunteers. Today, more than 550 individuals throughout Delaware are actively involved in supporting the nonprofit organization's programs and services in the community.

Nearly 225 volunteers and guests attended the dinner, where volunteers reaching 5-year marks of service received special recognition.

A special thank you was given to Hopkins & Sons Inc., which has donated trucks, storage space, and manpower for the past 26 years for the New Castle County Festival of Trees. Delaware Hospice President and CEO Susan Lloyd, MSN, RN, said, "Please know that we couldn't do it without you. Whether you are visiting patients and families, reaching out to them with a telephone call, helping keep our files current or helping out with a fundraising event, your contributions and your commitment to our organization's mission are truly appreciated."
