Delaware to kick off Heart Month with Wear Red Day Feb. 2

January 29, 2018

The American Heart Association's Go Red For Women and its national sponsors Macy's and CVS Health are asking for everyone's support by participating in National Wear Red Day Friday, Feb. 2, during American Heart Month.

Why Go Red? As the No. 1 killer of women – claiming the lives of one in three women – cardiovascular diseases force people to consider that a woman they know and love may be affected at any age.  While cardiovascular diseases kill nearly one woman every 80 seconds, 80 percent of these cases may be prevented with education and action.

That's why everyone is asked to wear red on National Wear Red Day and take their heart health seriously by making an official Go Red Commitment – an online pledge for women to join and take action in the fight against women's heart disease and stroke. Whether people commit to prioritizing physical activity, healthy eating, regularly monitoring blood pressure or donating to Go Red For Women, they are taking critical steps with other women to eradicate heart disease and stroke.

To make a Go Red Commitment, go to www.GoRedForWomen.org/Commit, select a personal commitment, submit it and share on social channels.

To give to the American Heart Association, go to www.WearRedDay.org or donate to the cause at Macy's or CVS by purchasing a red dress pin.
