Delaware Tech employees give back in a record-breaking way

May 2, 2018

Each year, the employees of Delaware Technical Community College participate in a two-week employee giving campaign to benefit the students they work with each day. Historically, employees have participated at high rates – exceeding 90 percent – and have raised close to $100,000. This year, the college made a goal to surpass that landmark number, and they achieved it. The 2018 campaign raised $109,179, bringing the campaign’s 31-year total to more than $2 million.

“We commend our employees for their generosity, commitment and caring spirit in supporting our students through this campaign,” said Dr. Mark Brainard, college president. “We don’t take this for granted, and we are very proud of this achievement.”

Contributions from the campaign go into the college’s educational foundation, which disburses scholarships and other assistance to help Delaware Tech students achieve their educational goals.

“Like many of our employees, I’ve seen firsthand what a difference one scholarship can make for our students – it not only helps ease their financial burden, but it demonstrates that others believe in them and their ability to succeed here at Delaware Tech,” said Brainard.

The campaign began in 1987 with a 30 percent participation rate. Participation and contributions have grown over the years, and for the past five years, employee participation has been 94 percent or higher.
