DelDOT warns of traffic delays for funeral services

July 16, 2016

Savannah Road and other roadways within Lewes may be closed Saturday, July 16, and Sunday, July 17, for the funeral services of Lewes firefighter Timothy "Tim" Joseph McClanahan.

A public viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., July 16, at Parsell Funeral Home, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway in Lewes. A second viewing will be held July 17, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Cape Henlopen High School Auditorium, 1250 Kings Hwy., Lewes. A funeral mass will be held at 3 p.m. The main entrance on Kings Highway is closed for construction; access to the Cape campus will be from Savannah Road.

Final Fireman's Honors will be held immediately following the funeral services at approximately 4 p.m. Motorists should expect delays as the procession moves through Lewes. Traffic will be temporarily stopped at intersections along the procession route.

Message boards will be placed to inform motorists of impending delays. In anticipation of possible delays, DelDOT's Transportation Management Center will be monitoring traffic via radio and cameras along the route. DelDOT will have personnel positioned throughout the area to ensure traffic flow. Motorists may adjust their routes or travel times by using the DelDOT App or website at DelDOT.

For real-time traffic cameras, travel times, delays, and advisories, or tune to WTMC 1380 AM.
