Delmarva Power donates fire safety alarms

Delmarva Power's Emergency Services Partnership Program will donate fire safety alarms this month to the Wake Up Delaware program of the Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association. The program will receive 500, 10-year long-life fire safety alarms. All of the units are intended for residents who may not be able to afford them.

"Delmarva Power's Emergency Services Partnership Program has worked with Delaware public safety agencies to raise fire safety awareness and empower residents to embrace proper fire safety practices," said John Allen, vice president of the Delmarva Power Region. "We're excited to provide these much-needed fire alarms for the 16th year in a row. It's an honor to partner with public safety professionals and support their ongoing mission to reduce the number of fire-related deaths and injuries in our service territory."

Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse provided the alarms to Delmarva Power at a reduced cost to help support this safety effort. Since 2000, Delmarva Power has donated 23,850 regular smoke alarms, 1,045 special-needs smoke alarms for the hearing impaired, and 2,500 carbon monoxide
alarms to fire safety officials in Maryland and Delaware.
