Derby Day soiree benefits Sussex Academy

Dozens don bonnets, boots at tented celebration

About 200 Cape Region residents threw on their fancy boots and bonnets for Sussex Academy’s Derby Day celebration under a lighted tent at the Lewes Public Library May 6.

The event featured a broadcast of the derby as well as a live and silent auction, featuring donated items from Paul Cullen, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Kings Creek Country Club and others. Corporate event sponsors included Beacon Pediatrics; The Lewes Building Company; Dr. Roman Orsini of Orthopaedic Associates of Southern Delaware; Coastal Tented Events; Dogfish Head; Nage; Cape Gazette; Doodle Design; Innovative Hospitality Solutions Inc.; Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding; the Moshier family; Dr. Brendan Wiggins and Dr. Mark Wilkinson of Beebe Gastroenterology Associates; CW and Susie Mitchell; Parkowski, Guerke & Swayze law firm; Dr. and Mrs. Mark Sordi; Johnson Orthodontics; Atlantic Chiropractic Associates; Dr. Edward Jaoude and Mirelle Jaoude; Uday Jani of Shore View Medical; and more than a dozen other individuals and organizations.
