Dewey Beach Police slush fund alarming

October 20, 2017

Learning that the Dewey Beach Police Department ran an off-the-books slush fund is revolting. Not only was it an off-the-books slush fund, but the money from the fund came from taxpayers around the country since the Dewey Beach Police Department sold equipment given to them by the U.S. Department of Defense - my money and the money of other taxpayers going into the pockets of the Dewey Beach Police Department via a hidden slush fund.

This seems like both a violation of local and federal laws by a department in one of our local governments charged with enforcing our laws.

This begs the question: What other local jurisdictions in Sussex County and Delaware are doing the same thing? This would be a worthy investigative reporting action for the Cape Gazette.
