Dewey mayor vows continued improvements

September 15, 2017

As a candidate for Dewey Beach Town commissioner, I'm asking for your vote on election day, this Saturday, Sept. 16. Dewey has definitely improved:

We have made significant financial advances. In the past year alone, the independent accounting firm has given Dewey the highest ranking possible in our municipal audit, and the town posted well over $700,000 income over total budget - a major improvement.

We have planned for the financial future, and increased the set-aside/restricted funds amounts. With full input from property owners, we instituted town-wide, single-service trash pickup - increased service at lower cost for most homeowners.

Long, boring meetings are a thing of the past. I promised and produced shorter, more productive town meetings, now streamed online for property owners' convenience.

As promised, charges against the town manager are being independently investigated by a separate and experienced law firm. By our town charter, we had to request such an investigation before possible removal. Once the report is finished, an announcement from the commissioners or the town attorney will be made.

If any truly serious charges are confirmed, I will personally demand termination.

I have volunteered over many years as a member on most of our town committees, and as a commissioner, and now as mayor. Throughout those years, you have received my letters and emails. I have earned your trust by never giving you false information or innuendos, or by using the attack politics of other groups.

I am again asking for your trust and your vote, this Saturday, Sept. 16.

Dale H. Cooke
mayor, Dewey Beach
