Dogfish Head to release bourbon barrel-aged Palo Santo Marron June 16

June 9, 2018

Calling all Palo fans! Dogfish Head’s newest 750ml limited bottle release and barrel-aged experimentation, Bourbon Barrel-Aged Palo Santo Marron, will be available for pickup at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 16, at the Milton brewery tasting room.

Clocking in at 13.3 percent ABV, this roasty, sweet ale has spent the last eight months aging and developing its rich, full-bodied flavors on wood and is finally ready to see the light.

Bourbon Barrel-Aged Palo Santo Marron is a brown ale brewed with dark malts and brown sugar, then aged on two kinds of wood – Palo Santo and bourbon barrels. First, it spends a month aging in a 10,000-gallon Palo Santo tank made from holy wood which contributes layers of caramel and sandalwood flavors to the beer. Then, it spends seven more months in bourbon barrels, allowing smooth notes of oaky vanilla and coconut to come forward. The brewery originally released it on draft in April 2018 but held some on reserve and aged it for an additional three months in bourbon barrels just for this special limited release. With only 400 bottles available, Bourbon Barrel-Aged Palo Santo Marron is priced at $18/750ml bottle and will also be available on draft.
