Dolores ‘Dee’ Stalvey, loved serving others

Dolores “Dee” Stalvey passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Carolina’s Medical Center in Lincolnton, N.C.
She was born Aug. 19, 1938, in Albemarle, N.C., daughter of the late James Walter Kimray and Dorothy Ledbetter Kimray. She graduated from Belmont High School in 1956. She had a passion for serving others which was demonstrated through her work in personal home care, and later as a server at Little Greek Boys in Lewes where she made many friends. She was a devout Christian and attended the Milford Church of God where she enjoyed the Ladies Fellowship.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Horace L. Stalvey Sr.; her two sons, Joe Steven and Ryan Gregory Stalvey; and two brothers, Donald Kimray and Michael Kimray; and also her faithful dog, Sport.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Miller; three sons, James, Horace Jr., and Preston Stalvey; two daughters-in-law, Donna and Heather Stalvey; two siblings, Reggie Kimray (his wife, Donna) and Karen Hellard; six grandchildren, Shannon and Stephanie Absher, Jessica and Joey Stalvey, Ellen Yelk and Madison Stalvey; six great-grandchildren, Samuel, Myles, Jayden, Isaiah, Noah and Emma; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 11 a.m.  Interment will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
