Don’t increase license fee taxes

May 5, 2017

In celebration of Small Business Week, I would like to remind our state’s General Assembly that our Delaware State Constitution states very clearly, under Article 8, Section 10 , that there are mandated limits on increasing rates on license fees.

I find instead that our state government is constantly looking for revenue by raising license fees every time there is a budget shortfall.

I propose that we do not raise taxes and fees to match our debt. Instead, we can in good faith pledge to decrease spending. That would be a good way to celebrate small businesses!
