Doris J. Burkett,General Motors retiree

Doris J. Burkett, 82 of Lewes, formerly of Newark, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at her home.
Doris was born in Frederica Aug. 1, 1935, daughter of the late Carl Baker and Althea (Melvin) Baker. She retired from General Motors in Newark, where she worked on the assembly line. Doris enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Martin Burkett. She is survived by her loving husband, Lee Burkett; two daughters, Cathy Burkett-Wood and her husband Calbel of Lewes, and Karen Hurst of Millsboro; a sister, Clara Sakowski of Milton; two brothers, David Baker of Newark and Donald Baker of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
