Dorothy M. Barber, retired supervisor

Dorothy M. Barber of Lewes, formerly of Newark, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, July 29, 2017.

Dorothy was born in Union City, N.J., Oct. 12, 1925, daughter of the late George and Edith (Whittaker) Eisenmann. Dorothy grew up in Palisades Park, N.J., and graduated from Leonia High School. After graduation she worked as a secretary on The Manhattan Project. She later attended and graduated from Montclair Teachers College (NJ). At the time of her retirement, she worked as a supervisor with Container Corporation of America.

Dorothy spent many years volunteering with the Auxiliary of Stockley Center, where she was recognized numerous times for her volunteer service to the campus. Dorothy was an active member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church where she served in many capacities over the years. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed golfing and achieved a hole-in-one in 1991.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel W. Barber; a son, Kenneth Richard Budzik; and a sister, Jocelyn Eisenmann.

Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Jill W. Skelly and husband Thomas of Bear; two granddaughters, Jennifer Downey and husband Patrick, and Allison Skelly; as well as two great-grandsons.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 3, at Georgetown Presbyterian Church, 203 N. Bedford St., Georgetown. Inurnment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the caregivers of VITAS Hospice for their loving care and support during Dorothy's illness.
