Dorothy Mae Davis King, worked in shipping

Dorothy Mae Davis King, 83, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017. She was born on the family farm near Georgetown Dec. 10, 1933, to the late Arthur Pierce Davis Jr. and Anne Mae (Rash) Davis.
Dorothy's first job was at the Silco, and then she left that job and went to Arrow Safety Device Company, where she put in almost 50 years. She worked in shipping, then into the shipping office under Tom Davis, as his secretary. She attended McColley's Chapel and Hebron M.P. Church.
She always liked to visit her friends at the nursing home. 
 In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Preston L. King; and brothers, Arthur III, John, Norman and Paul.
She is survived by brothers, Wm. Thomas, Robert and James; sisters-in-law, Evelyn, Carol, Grace, Ruth, Lois and Nellie; her niece who took care of her, Leona Davis, and a lot of other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, Saturday, August 12, at 10:30 a.m., with a time of visitation at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Hebron Cemetery, Georgetown.
