Dover man arrested for burglary in Rehoboth

November 11, 2017

A Dover man was arrested in Rehoboth Beach Nov. 10 after police say he burglarized a vacant residence.

Rehoboth police say John Fisher, 54, broke into a house on the first block of Sussex Street at 3:30 p.m. and made himself at home, adjusting the thermostat and taking food and drinks from the refrigerator.

Police say when the 64-year-old owner of the house arrived, he found personal items on his porch that did not belong to him. He discovered that someone had entered the house through an unsecured window. Around 8 p.m., police say they found Fisher leaving the property again and concluded that he broke into the house a second time.

Fisher was charged with third-degree burglary, theft under $1,500 where the victim is 62 years of age or older, both felonies, and one count of misdemeanor criminal trespass. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,100 secured bail.
