An estimated $47,000 was raised by 220 people during the Eastern Sussex Ducks Unlimited annual banquet and live auction Dec. 1.

The evening event took place at the St. Jude the Apostle Parish Life Center, north of Lewes. There were silent auctions, raffles and games during the cocktail hour prior to the dinner and live auction.

Kevin Halsey, Eastern Sussex Ducks Unlimited chairman, thanked all the attendees, donors and volunteers for a great event. He also thanked Long Neck Boy Scout Troop 105 for helping the Bethany Blues caterers with serving and cleanup.

As usual, there were plenty of decoys auctioned off, with the highest amount – $1,050 – going for a black duck carved by Dick Keck, former ESDU chairman. Another $2,500 was raised with the annual Chesapeake Bay retriever raffle.

The annual fundraising dinner is always held on the first Friday of December.
