Easterseals to host caregiver conference Sept. 20
Easterseals Delaware & Maryland's Eastern Shore and the Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities are hosting the Easterseals annual Caregiver Conference Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Executive Banquet and Conference Center in Newark. The theme is Take Care of Yourself to Take Care of Others. Those interested in speaking with and getting caregiving information from aging and disability experts, community organizations, caregiver advocates, homecare and facility coordinators, and support organizations are invited to register for the free, full-day seminar and exhibits. Registration includes continental breakfast and lunch.
"At Easterseals, we know how important services and support are for caregivers. Easterseals is proud to once again host the Caregiver Conference and to add it to our list of services we have available for caregivers in our area," said Kenan Sklenar, Easterseals president/CEO.
Last year's conference was a huge success, impacting the lives of many types of caregivers. One attendee said, "I came not knowing what I was looking for or what services or support was available to caregivers in the area." Another said, "There are so many free programs and services available that I didn't know about."
The Caregiver Conference is one example of the ongoing partnership between Easterseals and DSAAPD to address the growing needs of Delaware caregivers. In addition, the Easterseals Community Outreach Program offers resources and support to caregivers through its many programs including: The Caregiver Resource Center, Lifespan Respite grants, FYI Assistive Technology Financing program and the assistive technology demonstration center.
