Edith E.M. Garvin Janer, owned knitting shop

Edith Emma Margaret Garvin Janer, 95, of Lewes, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Edith was born June 30, 1921, in College Point, N.Y., daughter of the late Clarence Edward and Mary Martin Garvin.

Edith worked as an X-ray technician for a time in New York, then as a receptionist in several doctors’ offices both in New York and in Delaware. She also owned a yarn and knitting shop in Queens, N.Y., for several years. She lived in Levittown, N.Y., and then Holliswood, Queens, for many years before re-locating to Delaware.

In addition to her parents, Edith was pre-deceased by her estranged husband, Raphael Joseph Janer; and her sister and brother-in law Marion and John Vogel. She is survived by a daughter, Denise Janer Irwin (Jeff); a grand­daughter, Jennifer Blakeney (Ray); and a great-grandson Raven Blakeney. She is also survived by two nieces, Karen Vogel, and Sharen Winter.

All services will be private.
