Edward Eugene Slygh, proud Navy veteran

Edward Eugene Slygh, 69, of Georgetown, formerly of Bel Air, Md., passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He was born in Ottawa, Ohio, Wednesday, April 9, 1947, son of the late Leonard and Ellen (Suter) Slygh.

Mr. Slygh proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, spending four years in Vietnam. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Slygh is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Patricia (Cyganowski) Slygh of Georgetown; his children: Alicen and her husband Brad Dingman, of Chespaeake, Va., Joseph Slygh and his fiancé Sarah Arminger of Bel Air, James Slygh and his wife Luci of Centerville, Ohio, David Slygh of Spencerville, Ohio, and Phillip of Delphos, Ohio; his brother Paul and his wife Pat of Oregon, Ohio; his sister-in-law Jean and her husband Mike Chiveral of Essex, Md.; and his grandchildren and nephews.

Friends may call Thursday, July 28, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, from 2 to 4 p.m., and again from 6 to 8 p.m.

Burial will be private at Delaware Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Slygh's name to Parkinson's Education and Support Group of Sussex County, P.O.
