Edward F. McGehrin, investment advisor

Edward F. McGehrin, 87, of Rehoboth Beach passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, in Lewes. He was born April 28, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late Edward and Florence McGehrin.

Ed and his wife Frances (R. Connor) raised their family of eight in University Park, Md., and moved to Rehoboth Beach in 2002. Ed proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, served on the board of trustees for his alma mater, Villanova University, and had a distinguished career as an investment advisor with Johnston Lemon & Company and Merrill Lynch. Ed was an active Rotarian with College Park and Greenbelt Rotary.

Ed is survived by his son Patrick McGehrin (Vicki) of Lewes, daughter Kathleen Van Dyck (Chuck) of Alexandria, Va.,, daughter Peggy McGehrin Kelly of Rehoboth Beach, son Michael McGehrin (Karen) of Billings, Mont., son Martin McGehrin (Joanne) of Upper Marlboro, Md., daughter Marianne McGehrin Rhine of Rehoboth Beach; brothers Tom (Betty) and George (Marianne) McGehrin; and sister Theresa (Edward) Signell.

 Ed was predeceased by his loving wife Frances; two children, Ann and Timothy McGehrin; and grandson Brendan Kelly. Ed is survived by 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, Feb. 17, at noon, at St. Edmond' Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit beginning at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Center for Children, Youth & Families, 4901 Eastern Ave., Hyattsville, MD 20782.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
