Eleanor ‘Elea’ B. Lynam, former commissioner

Eleanor "Elea" B. Lynam, 85, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes. She was born Saturday, Feb. 10, 1932, in Federalsburg, Md., daughter of the late Ambrose and Gladys (Tull) Bradley.

Mrs. Lynam, along with her husband, were the former owners and proprietors of the Maryland Gardens in Rehoboth Beach, and the Bell Buoy Hotel in Dewey Beach. For many years Mrs. Lynam served as a commissioner for City of Rehoboth Beach during the ‘80s. She was a longtime member of Kings Creek Country Club and Epworth United Methodist Church. To her family she was an adoring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lynam was preceded in death by her son-in-law, William C. Emory, Jr. in 2011. She is survived by her beloved husband, Thornton L. Lynam of Rehoboth Beach; her daughters: Jacqueline L. Emory of Greenwood, and Susan Morgan and her husband Charles of Bayonet Point, Fla.; her grandchildren: Krista King and her husband Steve of Milford, Amy Emory of Greenwood, and Bradley Bliton and his wife Shannon of Eagle River, Ark.; and her four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, Aug. 11, at 2 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 1 p.m.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m., at Hill Crest Cemetery, 106 Denton Road 5, Federalsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Mrs. Lynam's memory to the Beebe Medical Foundation, Attn: Hospital Building Fund, 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
